Inman Aligners

Inman Aligners are being heralded as the biggest development in cosmetic dentistry since the porcelain veneer.

We are absolutely delighted to be at the forefront of this latest treatment. Steve Lomas is the first dentist in South Cheshire to be accredited to use Inman.

The aligners are used to relieve crowding of the front six teeth. Cases that would previously have been treated with multiple, often highly destructive porcelain crowns and veneers can now be treated with nothing more than realignment, maybe with some tooth whitening and bonding a little white filling material onto worn incisal edges.

If crowns or veneers are still requested after after alignment, preparation becomes very minimal, with almost no damage to the underlying tooth. We hope that the days of the destructive smile makeover are finished, and alignment, bleaching and bonding is the new way forward.

Inman aligners can be used in upper lower or both dental arches. They are removable orthodontic appliance, ideally worn for up to 20 hours per day, and can be taken out for eating, important social functions etc.

The key to success with Inman Aligners is careful treatment planning. You can see from the pictures that some seemingly very crowded smiles can be changed dramatically in a matter of weeks.

Some cases however will be simply too crowded, or may have other orthodontic problems behind the front six teeth, which may be more appropriately treated by other systems such as Invisalign or conventional fixed orthodontics.

Inman aligners can be used prior to crown and veneer treatment to improve the position of teeth prior to tooth preparation, significantly reducing the amount of tooth preparation required.

To allow the teeth to move, it is necessary to create a little space between them. This is achieved by minimal reduction of the enamel in between the teeth using abrasive strips, temporarily expanding the dental arch or a combination of the two.
