ZOOM!2® tooth whitening at The Old Surgery

Whitening Wednesdays We are delighted to now offer ZOOM!2® tooth whitening to our patients to give you the whiter brighter smile you have always wanted. As seen on many TV “makeover” programmes, the ZOOM!2® whitening system can make your teeth dramatically lighter in as little as an hour!

The procedure is simple: initially your dentist will carefully cover and protect your gums and lips leaving only your teeth exposed. The ZOOM!2® whitening gel is then carefully applied to the teeth and the ZOOM!2® light is focused on the teeth. After 15 minutes the gel is removed and then two more applications are repeated with the ZOOM!2® light. Stains and discolouration are broken down leaving you with a confident dazzling smile!

Who can have tooth whitening?

Almost anyone can benefit from tooth whitening. Before treatment it is vital that your teeth are clean and your gums are healthy, and you have no leaking or sensitive fillings.

Barrier Whitening

The same strength of whitening gel and technique is used on all patients and whitening will always occur, with some variation depending on the degree and depth of discolouration before treatment. Your dentist will carefully assess the existing shade of your teeth and likely end result.

Is whitening safe? Are there any side effects?

Extensive research indicates that whitening under supervision of a dentist is perfectly safe. Some patients may experience mild sensitivity or twinges during the procedure or in the following 24 hours. Your dentist will provide you with a special ZOOM!2® desensitising gel as part of the procedure.

How does it work?

The active ingredient of ZOOM!2® gel is hydrogen peroxide. This produces oxygen as it is broken down, which then enters the enamel and dentine and bleaches any coloured substances leaving the tooth structure unchanged. The ZOOM!2® light helps to activate the oxygen release and helps it penetrate the tooth surface, increasing the effectiveness of the gel.

How long does it last?

The results are immediate and teeth are typically an average of eight shades lighter. By following our recommended after-care instructions and occasionally using Nite-White touch-up gel provided by your dentist you will be able to keep your teeth lighter than before and looking their best!

For more information contact the practice or discuss tooth whitening with your dentist at your next appointment. Our registered monthly plan patients take advantage of a 20% reduction in cost and ten months interest free credit is also available.

The practice is happy to offer Zoom!2® tooth whitening sessions on Wednesdays for a discounted rate of £295.

Not a patient at The Old Surgery?

If you are not a patient at this practice, we are still able to whiten your teeth for you without you becoming a registered patient with us. It will be necessary to undergo a simple visual examination of the teeth to be whitened to ensure that they are suitable for treatment and obtain necessary consents. This simple screening process will cost an initial £30.00 and is non-refundable. Please note, this is not a replacement for a full dental health assessment, but is simply to ensure that the teeth to be treated have no untreated decay, significant gum disease, or that there are no existing tooth-coloured fillings or crowns which will not whiten. Should we feel that you have any issues which need treatment before your teeth are whitened we would advise you appropriately and consider further investigations, e.g. x-rays if necessary. It is always advisable to have seen your dentist or hygienist for a scale and polish prior to whitening to ensure gum health and to remove any staining that may be present.

(Standard private fee is £500, discounted fee for plan members is £400. The standard fees will continue to apply if whitening is performed during peak surgery hours, and we are unable to discount the special offer price further for plan members.)
