What brought you to the Old Surgery Dental Practice?
A job advertisement! My other job involves working with people who have special needs – that’s a very broad description, and doesn’t allow me to focus on the needs that I serve well – those who are scared. So, I’m very lucky to have the right balance of work.
What is your role at the Old Surgery Dental Practice and what do you like most about it?
I help children to cope with dentistry. Here at the Old Surgery Dental Practice we have ‘happy gas’ to help children relax and the Wand to get teeth sleepy. Children are usually much more reasonable and resilient than those who call themselves grown-ups.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Planning. I feel calmer if I have lists. Shopping, cleaning, birthdays, dentistry – if I have a plan, I can relax without feeling I ought to be doing some job or other.
Where do you like to travel?
Austria: mountains, lakes, clean air and an efficient transport system; only a few hours from the UK.
If money were no object and you could do anything for just one day, what would you do?
Make my bank give me all its cash and spend the day giving it away to anyone who smiles at me or who I feel sorry for.
