Steven Lomas BDS
Steve qualified from the University of Birmingham in 1992. He remained in the West Midlands for the next five years before moving to Crewe. Steve opened The Old Surgery Dental Practice in February 1998 and has developed it from a single handed practice to its current six surgeries.
Steve is highly committed to a preventive approach to dentistry, aiming to help his patients attain and retain excellent dental health. His other main clinical interests are cosmetic dentistry and endodontics (root filling of teeth). Non-clinical activities have included being a Vocational Dental Trainer to newly qualified dentists, President of the North Staffordshire Society of Dental Surgeons, organising postgraduate lecture programmes in North Staffordshire and leading peer review study groups for local practices.
Steve is currently a member of the Local Dental Committee, a member of the Staffordshire Postgraduate Tutors Support Group and is an examiner for the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses.
Steve is married with two children Sophie and Oliver. He has a love of anything sporty, especially rugby, golf and skiing.
Rich Willis BDS
Rich graduated from Birmingham University in 1993. Following several successful years at large practices in Birmingham and Worcestershire, he moved to Crewe to join The Old Surgery Dental Practice as a partner in August 2000.
Rich has been an approved trainer for Graduate Dental Surgeons for the Mersey Deanery area and is currently the Honorary Treasurer of South Cheshire Local Dental Committee.
“I gain great satisfaction in providing high-quality, relaxed dental treatment for my patients, especially cosmetic and advanced restorative treatment and tooth whitening. I also provide a referral service for local colleagues to treat nervous children where possible with inhalation sedation (“happy gas”).”
Diana Tucker BDS FDS RCS (Eng)
Specialist in Oral Surgery
Diana graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1992 and completed her vocational training year in Bromsgrove, before embarking on a hospital career in 1994, subsequently working as a Senior House Officer in hospitals across the North West and the West Midlands before attaining her Fellowship in Dental Surgery in 1997.
Diana took her current position as a Staff Grade Surgeon in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Stafford Hospital in 1999, and was awarded her status as a Specialist in Oral Surgery in 2001.
Diana has been with The Old Surgery Dental Practice since 1998, limiting her practice to minor oral surgery (usually the extraction of teeth), with the aid of intravenous sedation for more complex procedures and for our more nervous patients.
Originally from Newcastle-under-Lyme, Diana now lives in South Cheshire with her husband and two children.
Anna Sharvin BChD (Hons)
Anna qualified from the University of Leeds with honours and distinction in her final examinations, returning to her home county of Cheshire to complete her postgraduate year in vocational training. Anna has worked in general dental practice ever since and is a member of the British Dental Association. She regularly attends courses and lectures for continued professional development.
In 2004 Anna took time out of her practice career to provide dentistry and training to the population of Tanzania on behalf of the dental charity Bridge2Aid. She has an interest in all aspects of general dentistry, in particular preventive techniques and surgical dentistry.
Anna's interests outside of dentistry include her family and friends, a range of sports, martial arts, music and theatre.
Kerry Davies EDH
Kerry is a hygienist at the practice, having qualified from Birmingham Dental Hospital in 2003. She was previously employed as a registered dental nurse for a period of eight years. It was during this period that Kerry developed a keen interest in oral health education and periodontal treatment, prompting a return to study at university as a mature student.
“The preventative aspect of my role in the practice is often the most rewarding. Simple changes to oral hygiene can have dramatic beneficial effects to patients' gum health as well as their decay rate. We at The Old Surgery Dental Practice believe that prevention is better than cure, and it is my role to advise on the best methods for you to achieve a good standard of oral health, therefore reducing your need for further treatment.”
Kerry is married to Steven and has two children, Jack and Laura. She also has two chocolate labradors called Coco and Bailey, who complete her family.
Victoria Howells EDH EDT U. Leeds
Vicky originally trained and qualified as a dental nurse in Cheshire in 2004 before moving to Leeds to train as a dental hygienist and therapist. Vicky qualified in 2006 and continued to work in Leeds before relocating back to Cheshire to join our team in October 2009.
Vicky’s role is as a therapist providing some simple treatments to our NHS patients.
Tracey Stoneley
Tracey has joined our team in August 2010 bringing with her over 25 years' expertise as a dental hygienist. Tracey has a wide experience of patient care and has a keen interest in new developments in preventative dentistry, which will be invaluable to our patients' oral health.
